Message from Mom Baker
I just want to say to my children and grandchildren the prayer I say everynight......
"Dear God"
"Please watch over my children and grandchildren and help them to know how much I love them! Let them have a happy and healthy life and find love. My prayer is that they know the true feeling of family and that they continue to share their lives with others in the family."

Mom' most frequent comment during my early years was, "Anything worth doing is worth doing right!" She had to say this to me often as I was a "slacker" and didn't always do my best! I did enough to get by and usually better than most who were doing their best! What a guilt trip!!!!! Parents were good at that "in the OLD DAYS!!!!"

We became the Baker Family June 16, 1973 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola, KS. At 7:00 PM with a tornado brewing we said our "I Do's". We left in a rush of wind and storm toward Nevada, MO with a bottle of Champaygne in hand. Ravished----for food, we stopped at the local Sonic for burger and fries and then found a motel. Our "feast" with champagyne was stupendous!

- I was born July 31, 1948 in St. John's Hospital in Iola, KS. I weighed 9 lbs. and 5 oz. I had black hair and blue eyes. I was the second child born to my father, Richard Wesley Lynch and the first to my mother Armilda Maxine Ballard Lynch. My parents were living with my grandparents, George Hoover Ballard and Nora Mae Johnson Ballard in Neosho Falls, KS. Needless to say, I was so excited to be out in the "real" world that I had no intention of sleeping that night. At least until my Grandpa Ballard took me to bed with him and I slept on his tummy! Wow! What a relief to Mommy!

Your dad and I sang together at the radio station in Iola the first night we "got together". He played his guitar and we sang, "Leavin' on a Jet Plane".

Probably more than you ever wanted to know about the Baker's, but mostly written for my three children and our descendents.....Kathrine Elizabeth Baker-Collins-Hall, Kelcey Nicholle Baker-Schmitz, Michael Lynch Baker, Kurtis Paul Baker, and Lindsey Diane Baker. Also, my grandchildren and all future grandchildren----Lucas Hall, Emilly Abigail Schmitz, Andrew Michael Schmitz, Naismith Baker, and Baby Boy Baker.
BAKER BABIES, ETC
Just a note to all who read this BLOG that this is dedicated to the children and descendents of Buddy David Baker, and Judy Diane (Lynch) Baker. I hope to add little stories and memories of "The Days of Our Lives"! Of course, any who read this are encouraged to add their own stories, or versions of the stories as they heard them!!!!
June 21, 2008--I anxiously await my "China Doll". Lindsey Diane Baker was the last of the immediate family of Baker babies. She was born at 2:48 pm on September 20, 1984 (one of those New Year's Eve babies!) She was perfect in every way. It was a long pregnancy, as we had lost our boy born three years earlier. Seems I knew I was pregnant New Year's Day. After finding out I was right some really mixed emotions fled through. We were thrilled to be expecting again, but scared to death!!!!!! We had gone through genetic counseling and found that Kurt's problems were a "freak" of nature and nothing we could have done would have changed his problems. Now began a whole new set of concerns. We decided to have the baby in Wichita with Dr. Carl Chrisman delivering. He was an ob/gyn with genetic background. I was teaching third grade at Lincoln School in Iola and running back and forth for appointments in Wichita. Bless Mr. Yates (my principal) for being so understanding. This was my fourth pregnancy with him as my principal. At 5 months we went for amniocentesis. That was "enjoyable.......drink as much as you can and then hold it for an hour before they stick a needle in your stomach that could have been used for a horse. They took out about a pint of fluid and then we had to wait a week for results. I got the call at school and all was well. Then he asked if we wanted to know the sex and without hesitation, I said, "YES"!!!! So, Lindsey Diane it was from then on. Still don't remember where or when the Lindsey name was decided on.......the Diane part is a no-brainer!!!! She really loves that Diane part too!!!! HA Well, after three false alarm "flying" trips to Wichita we decided to set up a time and schedule the birth. Dr. Chrisman said she was "done". I stayed a week with Carol and David in Wichita, just in case she came early, but NADA! Carol and David's was an experience. They were in a one-room house, and not the RITZ!!! Thanks to them anyway, as it was comforting being in Wichita and with family. Daddy and kids came out the 19th and stayed. Kids slept, but Daddy and MAMA didn't! Too excited and nervous. At six am we left for the Wesley hospital and pre-delivery exams. Boy, now I know why Sheryll kept going to Wichita to have her babies and epiderals!!!!! My other three had been natural. At 3 centimeters they administered the epideral. Some Chinese doc who I couldn't understand had me grab my knees---what knees, I hadn' seen them in 3 months. I did my best and the epideral was in----amazing! No wonder it is called "The Cadillac of births!!! Suddenly, pressure became harder and harder and contractions only seconds apart and Daddy and I were rushed off to the delivery room. The doctor was enroute. But, of course, as doctors go he didn't make it and a very young surprised intern just happened to drop in to look around and gloveless held out his hands to catch our "dollie".
